View Photo »Before then, I felt like a young buck
It was hard for me because I love my country, but I was rooting for Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu. I’m a big Anaheim Ducks fan.
I'm not a big numbers guy ... but it will be a big, big accomplishment and honor to break that 600. Still, I've been so much hurt that I'm just happy enough to be playing and not thinking about those things.
This will be the tenacity of Finland with Teemu Selanne's star power against the pure skill and puck-controlling Swedish style ... I think the rivalry and relationships are similar to U.S. and Canada.
Jari and Wayne's picture was on my (family home) wall
It was just an awesome experience ... My first game was in Anaheim and it was special, with guys like Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu, guys you grew up watching. I had the butterflies going and I didn't want to screw up so I tried to play a safe game.
This is it, though, believe me, believe me ... Everything that has come to me has come with joy. I don't know how much you can ask for in life. I've been blessed. This game used to be our hobby. It's still our hobby.
Those are tough people to replace ... Then again other people have to contribute in their own special way. We don't expect Troy Bodie to replace Teemu Selanne, but Troy Bodie goes out and blocks shots and fights and creates energy and gets in on the forecheck. Those are things that probably don't get no...
It was a fun road but enough is enough ... The focus has to be the Ducks and these playoffs. After today, the Olympic stuff is gone.
I remember watching Shane Doan. I think it was his rookie year with the Jets. And guys like Teemu Selanne. They were my favorite players growing up. It was kind of sad to see them go. Now they’re out here. You don’t know what can happen, whether Winnipeg will get another team or not.
It was a big, emotional tournament for a lot of our guys
Teemu Selanne has a fractured jaw. He will be unavailable for a number of days, weeks here going forward ... He got a puck in the face and it broke a bone in his jaw. It will be surgically repaired tomorrow and we'll have to see what kind of time frame they are going to give us with it.
If someone would tell us before the tournament that we're going to win the bronze medal, I would say we would take it right away
I learned to say never say never, but I think this will be it for me
We believed that we could come back, and it was a huge comeback ... After 23 years playing for the national team, after five Olympics, this is a dream come true. If somebody were to tell us before the tournament we would win the bronze medal, we would have taken that.
That wasn't a really good 60 minutes ... But [it was] good enough to win the game, and that's what really matters.
The game is over after six minutes ... It was a long day and very disappointing.
We didn't even compete today ... They scored six goals in 12 minutes or something. At this point, you hope we can just play curling.
That's when you hope we play curling and you can just give up and not have to put yourself on the line anymore ... Six-nothing in 12 minutes? You can't bounce back anymore from that.
When the game is over within six minutes (of the opening faceoff), it will be a tough night
I hope we'll smile tomorrow ... Bronze is on the line. It's all about bouncing back and trying to take what's left. A bronze medal in this kind of tournament is huge.
You can't blame the goalie ... They (the Americans) got a couple good bounces. They have a good team, no question -- All-Stars from the NHL. They have the tools to beat anybody. They deserve it.
They got a couple of bounces, it’s 2-0
When the game is over within six minutes, it will be a tough night ... It's 2-0, we make a mistake, 4-0, 6-0.
They got a couple good bounces — 2-0
