The ENTIRE Big10 has 12 of the top 150 football recruits. The ENTIRE ACC has 14 in the top 150. Florida beats both conferences all by itself with 16. BigEast has 1. And if you take out Texas(13) and USC(8), the Pac10 and Big12 combined have 23 The rest of the SEC has 36 of the top 150. Does anybody wond...
Playing in the SEC is big for defensive players ... Being coached by Urban Meyer and playing in an environment like the SEC. It don't get no better than that. Just the fan support. All it is, is football out there. The Pac-10 ... you can't compare it to playing in the SEC, back down South.
If I was Urban Meyer, what I would do before I came back is sit down with Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno and ask, 'What's the secret? You guys have been in the middle of college football for all these years; you still have so much joy and intensity for it. What am I not seeing?'
There’s nobody more committed to the game of college football, to his players and to his family than what Urban Meyer is ... For him to make this kind of decision obviously was a very hard, tough choice. He loves the game, but I know he loves his family.
He is a first-class coach, and the success he's had is unmatched in our profession, especially over the last five years at Florida ... We hope he is able to regain his health and have the opportunity to coach again in the future. Urban Meyer is a great person as well as a great coach, and the game of co...
How do you argue with that?
It's developed into the rivalry du jour. It's clearly now the biggest game, and this is almost like a rubber match, although they may end up playing again in Atlanta.
That gives us a terrific afternoon game ... When you do a prime-time game, you want to make sure you've got a good afternoon game, because that necessitates that you do a doubleheader.
The U.S. Open pretty much goes all day with the women's final that night ... so even if we tried to compress everything to do Alabama-Penn State, you would have to severely compress the tennis. What if you have rain delays? So we never even went to the tennis people. We explored moving that game a week ...
We're looking at it, but I'm not sure what can be done
It's definitely a luxury ... It's something that we strive to do. Coming to Oregon, we always talk about having a balanced team. This is just some of the fruits of our labor, being able to be here and have athletes all the way from the 60-meter dash all the way to the pole vault.
Just a little jittery ... Nationals even being here four times you still get nervous.
It was upsetting because one thing about me is that I feel I can play football, and so going to a game like that, I could have showed everybody the football side of me ... I feel like the 40 and those workouts are overrated, and I just wanted to show my football skills.
Guys like Dunlap, Spikes and Haden, it's not just them being great players, but they also are NFL prototypes as far as style of play and size that pretty much gave them big names throughout their college careers, whereas people really only knew who I was the '08 championship and last year
It gets disappointing because just like in high school and just like in college, I have to prove people wrong and show that 40 speed and testing ability isn't really the most important thing when it comes to playing football
My mom back at home, she's working two jobs ... It's been me and her since I was 7 years old. She put me through junior college these last couple years. Every athlete has their story when they say it's a struggle, but this really is a struggle. My mom, she's all I got.
I cannot wait to get to my phone and call her right now ... I just want to talk to her, hug her, kiss her and tell her her baby did it. My birthday was (Thursday). This has got to be the best birthday present of my life, besides being born.
Teammates ran the best races I've seen them run all year ... They leave it to me, and the second year in a row I've left them high and dry.
Training has been going really great ... I've been able to build my strength from the ground up this season.
You want to reward and protect your top four teams ... It makes a lot of sense to give your top four teams a bye, just like the Big 12 does. It's at least worth a conversation.
You could do it that way ... I think when you have something unusual that happens it probably brings it to the table for discussion a little more than when it's balanced a little bit more. There's certainly interest in winning a division championship and competing for seeds within that division.
If you don't have divisions, then you ask yourself, 'Why do I have to play teams twice that are historically stronger than other teams?'
Go to YouTube and put in the name Tim Tebow ... This is the guy the Gators just signed. You're going to hear a lot about his guy.
You see and hear things. But I think Coach Lebo has done a good job with the situation he came into and the players he has to work with ... But, obviously, you can't win unless you get players and that's the main thing. It takes some time to really find your mark in the South. The kids are in a situatio...
There is a lot of opportunity on our team this year ... because we lost a lot of great players.
